Today's list contains a barcode scanner, an artsy entertainment app, a collection of casual games for your iPad, and more. UPDATE: TapScanner has been removed from the list since it is no longer free. H20 ($.99 -> Free): A puzzle game where you are given 10 drops of water which must be used to grow and clear all of the water blobs in each level. Tapping on a blob will expand it by one, and if it bursts, it will send water out in four directions, saving you precious water. The game goes on until you run out of water. H20 is available for free today only (7/29). It has a four-star rating, and a total of 15 ratings. Blackout ($1.99 -> Free): A matching game where you must save the city from a blackout by connecting chains of subterranean crystals in order to clear a path of liquid energy that lights the city. The game features three different modes of play, touch and drag controls, and global leaderboards. Blackout is available for free today only (7/29). It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 102 ratings. Baby Tracks ($.99 -> Free): Allows you to record important events when they happen in your child's life. Simply add your child to the app, and then add accomplishments by name and date to keep a record of them. Baby Tracks is available for free for a very limited time. It has a three-star rating, and a total of five ratings. Universal: Thicket ($1.99 -> Free): An Uzu-like app that allows you to create unique patterns by touching the screen with one or up to ten fingers. The app features simultaneous gestural control of audio and video, the ability to disable sleep mode, and iPad VGA-out support. Thicket is available for free for a limited time. It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of six ratings. iPad only: Pop-A-Word ($.99 -> Free): A relatively simplistic word game where you start with three rows of letters with more and more letters dropping into the playing field, and you must make words out of the letters to remove them from the board before they reach the top. The pace picks up as you progress. Pop-A-Word is available for free until the end of July. It has a three-star rating, and a total of 11 ratings. Tesla Wars HD($5.99 -> Free): Just like the iPhone version of the game, you are in charge of the last remaining Tesla tower and you must do everything in your power to protect it from the faceless men. Enemies approach from all angles and you must tap each one to destroy them. The game features unlimited rounds, eight different enemy units, six special attacks that can be deployed via the pause menu, 100 upgrade levels, three difficulty levels, and OpenFeint integration. Tesla Wars HD may be on the verge of returning to its original price (there appears to have been a mixup as to when this was supposed to be free), so get it while you can. It has a four-star rating, and a total of 15 ratings. 8-IN-1 Casual & Puzzle Gamebox HD ($.99 -> Free): Contains eight different casual games, each with their own difficulty levels, rules, and OpenFeint leaderboards. The games are: minesweeper, mahjong solitaire, word search, samegame, solitaire, bubbles, shisen-sho, and bounce. New free games are said to be available via future updates. 8-IN-1 Casual & Puzzle Gamebox HD is available for free for a limited time. It has a four-star rating, and a total of five ratings.
