Missing On The iPad: Board Game Apps
July 27, 2010
Earlier this week, I highlighted game show apps that are missing from the iPad. Today, I look at board game apps missing from Apple’s device.
Monopoly While two versions of this must-have game exist for the iPhone/iPod touch, neither has shown up for the iPad. Both the World and Classic editions work quite well on the smaller device. It will be nice when they head to a bigger screen. Monopoly would be a natural choice for the iPad’s larger screen and would complement the already released Scrabble for iPad game. All three apps have been released by Electronic Arts. Clue The sleuth game is another Electronic Arts creation available on the iPhone, but not the iPad. Imagine finding Mustard or Scarlet with the rope on a larger screen! Trivial Pursuit Long available on the iPhone, the obsessive game from the 1980s is another good choice for the iPad. While I dislike the current version (it doesn't play like the traditional game), it still would be nice to have. Game of Life One of my favorite games as a kid and now as an adult (with my son and daughter) is this Milton Bradley classic. The iPhone version is amazing and even more so with the iPhone 4’s Retina display. Naturally, an HD version for iPad is inevitable. Battleship Before the advent of computers, teenagers and adults alike yelled out “you sunk my battleship!” The same goes with the six-month old Battleship app for iPhone. Imagine two iPad users playing each other across miles or continents and yelling the famous phrase. CandyLand Finally, we have this classic kids game. Available on neither iPhone nor iPad, it would be great to see a new generation of children play this game on either platform. What board game apps would you like to see on the iPad?
