MobileNavigator Update Finally Adds iOS 4 And Multitasking Support

July 10, 2010

Navigon never actually announced a specific release date for their iOS 4 and multitasking support update to MobileNavigator, but some users had been getting impatient anyway over the last couple of weeks since the app was rather unstable after installing the new iOS.  It also didn't help that TomTom got their iOS 4 and multitasking support update out the door relatively quickly.  But worry not navigation needy iPhone users, because MobileNavigator v1.6 is finally here, bringing with it a whole bunch of new features and fixes. MobileNavigator v1.6 features full iOS 4 support, including fast app switching and background audio instructions.  Now you can leave the app and go into another, or just take a phone call, and the app will continue to play turn-by-turn instructions.  Also, when returning to the app, you won't have to wait for the data to reload.  iPhone 4 users get a new feature of their very own with Retina display optimization on buttons and icons. Additionally, MobileNavigator v1.6 features new map data, a new destination overview screen which provides weather information, parking locations, and POI information around your destination, and a refined RealityView Pro.
MobileNavigator 1.6.0 delivers an efficient and informative navigation experience, helping drivers arrive stress-free and on time,” said Gerhard Mayr, vice-president worldwide mobile phones & new markets, NAVIGON. “Today MobileNavigator is the most feature-rich iPhone navigation app available. In the latest update, we not only added new driving related features such as Weather Live and Clever Parking but also improved the way information is presented in our new Destination Information Display.”
To celebrate the release of this highly anticipated update, Navigon has put MobileNavigator North America on sale again for $49.99, down from $79.99.  The sale price is valid for the next 12 days. The v1.6 update is free to all existing users.  If your in-app purchases, such as Traffic Live, have disappeared after the update, just go back into "Extras" and purchase the feature again.  The app will recognize that you have already purchased it and simply reactive it.
