August 17, 2010
As you know, there are plenty of new apps hitting the App Store every day (about 600/day lately). The thing is, most of them are Flashlight and Radio apps, so it’s not easy to find the little gems in all the clutter. Let us take care of that for you, it’s Appfresh daily: StyleMe! (iPhone) is a funny little app that helps you dress up. Basically, it lets you take a picture of yourself with a bunch of clothes on, then splits the picture in four and lets you slide each band separately to see different combinations. It goes for $1.99. Flickpad Lite (iPad) is the free and limited version of the very popular Flickr app. Basically, it's a touch-powered online photo browser. It's free. Elements (Universal) is a Dropbox-powered text editor. It will allow you to work on text files like so many other apps, but these will be stored in the cloud. This way, you can easily access it later on from another computer and you will never lose a file. It goes for $4.99. Barnes & Noble Nook for iPhone is an iPhone eBook reader. It seems like it's from the same folks that did the Barnes & Noble iPad eBook reader but slightly rebranded. It's free. Dex (iPhone) brings the Pokémon Pokedex to life on your iPhone. A bit late if you ask me, but oh well. It's free. Bushism (iPhone) is a soundboard app based on the voice of George W. Bush Junior. It's funny as Apple normally doesn't really allow these. Recently, it refused the exact same app, but based on the Mosspuppet voice. Yet, this one made it through. It goes for $.99. Speed Text Pro (Universal) wants to improve your on-screen typing skills. It does so by offering some tutorials, training, and a multi-player competition mode. It goes for $.99.
