Apple Releasing A Security Patch For PDF Exploit Soon
August 5, 2010
Remember that iOS 4 PDF exploit in Safari used to jailbreak all devices? It also turned out that anyone could use the same exact exploit as a hack to control someone's iDevice. Well, rumor has it that Apple has patched up the exploit and is planning to release it soon. This update will most likely be released as iOS 4.0.2, but Apple might surprise us and release iOS 4.1. What does this mean to you? If you wish to keep the jailbreak, or rely on an unlock, do not upgrade. However, if you care more about your security, I would advise updating immediately after release.
Also, planetbeing (a member of the Dev-Team), recently tweeted that if anyone does not yet have an iPhone 4 and wishes to jailbreak, to buy one quickly. This is wise advice, as Apple will most likely start shipping iPhone 4's with the patch included in order to prevent security issues, as well as, stop jailbreaking temporarily. It is nice that Apple has responded quickly to patching up the exploit, however, users will once again have to rely on the Dev-Team to release a new jailbreak. What is more important to you? Jailbreaking or security?
