Aqueduct Goes Universal, Gets New Levels And Retina Support

August 3, 2010

The Keiffer Bros. have decided to expand the possible audience for their unique puzzle game, Aqueduct, by optimizing it for the iPad via its most recent update.  But that's not the only addition to the game, not even close. Aqueduct was one of those games that played just fine on the iPad in 2x mode, but now that it's fully optimized, the experience is that much more enjoyable.  iPhone 4 owners are in for a treat as well since the game now features Retina optimized graphics.  Those running iOS 4 or later are also now able to utilize fast app switching. But Aqueduct v1.1 isn't just about graphics optimizations and additional features, it also sports 48 brand new puzzling levels.  The new levels can be accessed via the "Extra Puzzles" tab right above the original puzzles.  The new puzzles are contained under two different categories, each of which are unlocked from the beginning and have three levels unlocked, allowing you to play six never-before-seen puzzles before you even get into the original portion of the game. For those of you who haven't yet played Aqueduct, it is a puzzle game where you are tasked with restoring the flow of water by placing a variety of pipes — straight, corner, T-section, and cross-junction — from faucets to drains.  Pipes can be moved by simply tapping and dragging them, but those aren’t the only pieces that require your attention.  You will also need to move spacer blocks out of the way and onto buttons at times in order to make barricades move, and other obstacles such as warp holes, conveyor belts, and bridges simply add to the head scratching. Aqueduct now contains a total of 188 levels across six difficulty levels.  It's available in the App Store for $2.99.
