China Closer To Getting iPad

August 5, 2010

The iPad is getting closer to arriving in China. This week, Apple received an important "safety certification" mark that is one of the last steps before a product can be sold in the world's most populated country.

According to NetworkWorld:
By receiving the certification, the iPad has cleared a major government hurdle to allow the product to be exported and sold to the Chinese market. But the device will likely need the approval of China's Telecommunications Equipment and Certification Center, said Liu Liang, an analyst with the consulting group iResearch. "This has been just the first step to get it into the Chinese market," he said.
Although Apple hasn't made any announcements regarding an iPad move into China, it is expected to happen soon. In recent months, the Cupertino, California-based company has seen its Mac sales rise 200 percent in China. Plus, they  just opened a huge Apple Store in Shanghi. Apple is expected to sell nearly 10 million iPads worldwide by the end of 2010.
