iPad Offers More Than Just iBook "Books"

As an early iPad buyer, I quickly learned two things about my amazing device. One, the iBooks app offers a user the best reading experience on Apple's device. Second, this is regrettable since currently so few books are offered within the app, as compared to its main competitor.

Do a search for a book within Amazon's Kindle reader app and see if you can find the same book in iBooks. Often, it just doesn't happen. However, I dug a little bit deeper and came up with another conclusion: what the iBooks app lacks, the iPad itself gives back. Currently, the App Store offers iPad users 3,559 "book" titles completely separate from its iBooks app. Offering titles from Shakespeare to Dr. Seuss, these books contain brilliant content that no traditional book reading app could deliver. My favorite (or rather, my daughter's favorite) continues to be Miss Spider's Tea Party for the iPad, which was released on the same day as the iPad. While adaptations of this David Kirk classic are available in book form from Amazon.com, nothing beats the beauty of the iPad app. Therefore, while the Amazon and Borders' of the world continue to offer more e-books than Apple's own iBooks reader, this isn't the whole story! I would invite readers - young and old alike - to check out the Books section within the App Store. You won't be disappointed.
