Our list has returned to form today, with a total of eight apps that have gone free, which is two times as many as yesterday. Today's list features a few shooting games, a task manager, more puzzle games than you may need, and more.

Max Vector ($.99 -> Free): An 8-bit side-scrolling shooter through and through. The game features 8-bit graphics, and music by 8 Bit Weapon. To control the ship, simply tap and drag directly behind it, and the tap on the red fire button to unleash your weapons. The goal is to survive each level while obtaining the highest possible score.
Max Vector is available for free for a limited time. It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 23 ratings.
Marine Sharpshooter ($1.99 -> Free): A tilt-based sharpshooting game where you are required to eliminate a certain number of targets before they eliminate you. The game features five missions, each containing over a dozen environments, multiple weapons, three modes of play, and additional levels via in-app purchase.
Marine Sharpshooter is available for free today only (8/5). It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 72 ratings.
SlimTasks ($1.99 -> Free): Claims to be one of the easiest and fastest list apps available in the App Store, but I guess you will have to be the judge of that. Some of its main features include: scroll horizontally between multiple lists, drag tasks within a list, takes only two taps to move a task from one list to another, fast task creation, and each item in a list has a name and optional note.
SlimTasks is available for free for a very limited time. It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 69 ratings.
DiabloGolf USGA GHIN Golf Handicap Tracker ($1.99 -> Free): Allows you to keep track of your USGA GHIN handicap or DiabloGolf.com handicap number. You can view your 20 most recent scores, post 9 or 18 hole scores, auto-fill tee box used, and calculate course handicaps. It is also able to find the courses nearest you from a 16,000 course database. You can sign up for a free DiabloGolf.com handicap for a limited time on the company's website.
DiabloGolf is available for free for the next week. It has a three-star rating, and a total of seven ratings.
DinoSmash Online ($.99 -> Free): An online-only shooter where your goal is to take down your opponents in order to reach the top of the leaderboards. You will have to be the fastest and most accurate to achieve your goal since you will be pitted against 15 other players online. The game features on-screen controls, real-time combat, five weapons, optimized 3D graphics, and customizable characters.
DinoSmash Online is available for free for an undisclosed amount of time. It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 108 ratings.
Piyo Blocks ($1.99 -> Free): A match-3 game with a pixelated art style. You must match three like characters in order to remove them from the map. To move on to the next level, you must match a certain number of each character. Matching more than three characters at a time will speed up the process. The game also features three game modes, hundreds of levels, and OpenFeint integration to provide leaderboards and 25 unique achievements.
Piyo Blocks is available for free today only (8/5). It has a three-star rating, and a total of 30 ratings.
Universal:
Dave's Tiles ($4.99 -> Free): A tile game that features 25 game combinations. The game features four boards with varying sizes, and as you progress, you will be able to unlock the largest 6x8 board. You can choose between three different modes, turn your own photos into puzzles, or just play one of Dave's favorites.
Dave's Tiles is available for free for an undisclosed amount of time. It has a five-star rating, and a total of 16 ratings.
iPad only:
Dice Match HD ($.99 -> Free): A matching game where you are simply required to match like-numbered dice. You only have a limited amount of turns, so matching multiple dice at once will help you climb the leaderboards. The game features four different modes of play, multiple dice themes to choose from, and leaderboards.
Dice Match HD is available for free for a limited time. It has a four-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of six ratings.

If you are a developer who would like to get your app included in our “Apps Gone Free” daily lists, here’s our basic set of rules:
- The app must be free for at least one whole day.
- It must have at least a three-star rating at the time it goes free.
- The app must not have been free numerous times (3+) over the last six months.
