iPhone And iPad Apps Gone Free: Alarm Clock Radio, Aractroid, Hired Gun And More

Today's list features a handy alarm clock radio for iPhone and iPad, a bleeping soundboard, an arcade game with electronic spiders, and much more. Aractroid ($.99 -> Free): You play as an aractroid, a powerful warrior species of spider, and you must defend your web from the invading electronic spiders by jumping and walking to colored energy stations and then attacking like-colored spiders.  If you aren't the same color as the spider you are attacking, you will lose a life.  The game features simple touch and swipe controls, nine levels, and online leaderboards. Aractroid is available for free today only (8/31). It has a four-star rating, and a total of eight ratings. Wooly Racers ($.99 -> Free): A combination of the slot racer and endless genres.  Control which slot your mammoth is racing in by tapping either the left or right side of the screen in order to avoid the other mammoths while you speed around the course.  Each mammoth you pass earns you a point, but if you run into even a single one, the game is over.  The inside slots allow you to fly by quicker, while the outside ones will help slow you down when in trouble. Wooly Racers is available for free through September. It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 10 ratings. Jet Ball ($.99 -> Free): Your standard brick breaker with solid controls and great graphics.  In the game you control a paddle via a small circle beneath it in an attempt to keep the ball from passing by while also trying to clear the level of all objects.  The game features 105 levels, three difficulty levels, 20 power-ups, more than 60 obstacles, and OpenFeint integration. Jet Ball is available for free today only (8/31). It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 1,909 ratings. Safe Travel ($3.99 -> Free): Informs your friends and family when you have arrived safely, or if you haven't arrived at your designated time.  Once you set up your trip with an arrival time, the app can email your friends if you are running late and don't adjust your arrival time. It can also send notifications to friends with the same app instead of emailing them, and you can receive notifications when your friends have arrived at the same place.  That, and much more. Safe Travel is available for free for a limited time. It has a five-star rating, and a total of six ratings. Hired Gun ($.99 -> Free): A fairly basic sniper game where you are given a target and you must shoot it as many times during a 60 second period.  The moment you spot your target, tap the screen to zoom in for a better shot.  When zoomed in you can't move your reticule, only stabilize it, so be nimble.  The game features Triniti Interactive's usual stylized graphics, but lacks any type of score keeping. Hired Gun is available for free today only (8/31). It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 77 ratings. Bleep You!!! Pro ($.99 -> Free): A soundboard that contains a total of 120 "hilarious, loud, and high quality" sounds and phrases to use on friends and family.  What more needs to be said? Bleep You!!! Pro is available for free for a limited time. It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 29 ratings. Universal: Alarm Clock Radio ✓ ($1.99 -> Free): A simple yet effective alarm clock/radio.  The app is able to stream a vast number of songs from over 500 genres to be played at your bedside.  It can also be used as an attractive and easy to read clock and alarm clock.  You can change the background colors, 12/24 hour display, snooze, wake up to music or an alarm, and much more. Alarm Clock Radio ✓ is available for free today only (8/31). It has a four-star rating, and a total of 12 ratings.
