August 26, 2010
Today's list features a rhythm game with a twist, a handful of puzzle games, an app that will help you learn Spanish, and much more. Disclaimer: All prices are subject to change at any time and without notice regardless of stated free duration. Rhythm Spirit ($1.99 -> Free): A story-based action rhythm game where you will actually be jumping, ducking, slashing, and blocking your way through 10 original electronic dance and Japanese instrumental tracks.  The game features four on-screen buttons that you must tap at the correct time in order to progress through the story.  It also features clean animations, trophies to obtain, and local leaderboards. Rhythm Spirit is available for free today only (8/26). It has a four-star rating, and a total of 58 ratings. SoundGrid ($2.99 -> Free): An advanced matrix sequencer that allows you to create melodies while on-the-go.  It features various instruments, with more available for free via download, the ability to include up to eight layers, a song mode to play one pattern after another, a live mode for live performances, a draw mode to play sounds as you touch the screen, the ability to export your creations, and much more. SoundGrid is available for free today only (8/26). It has a four-star rating, and a total of 30 ratings. Bumble Tales ($2.99 -> Free): A match-3 game that features over 90 levels of colorful matching madness.  Match at least three like pieces to fulfill specific piece requirements in order to move on to the next level, but you must do so quick because the timer is also running.  The game features 12 adorable characters, achievements, power-ups, and stat tracking. Bumble Tales is available for free until September 1st. It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 63 ratings. My Woods Friends Stickers ($1.99 -> Free): Just like Portegno's other sticker apps, My Woods Friends Stickers allows your child to create a unique scene using 100 stickers and five different backgrounds.  The scenes can be saved in color for later viewing, or in black and white so they can be printed off and colored in with crayons or markers. My Woods Friends Stickers is available for free for a limited time. It has a three-star rating, and a total of 11 ratings. Doodle Dash! ($.99 -> Free): A tilt controlled distance game where you must collect gems and avoid obstacles in order to obtain the highest score.  The game contains simple doodle graphics, power-downs, multiple enemy types, and OpenFeint integration. Doodle Dash! is available for free today only (8/26). It has a five-star rating, and a total of 20 ratings. Fayju Ball ($.99 -> Free): The idea of the game is to get the balls into their like-colored holes by tilting your device.  It's much easier said than done since there will usually be more than one ball and multiple obstacles.  You can quickly restart a level if you accidentally get a ball in the wrong hole.  The game features 60 levels, touch or tilt controls, achievements, and more. Fayju Ball is available for free until September 9th. It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 1,007 ratings. Hello Word Deluxe English | Spanish ($4.99 -> Free): An app that can help you learn Spanish.  It features 4,400 words with the ability to import your own vocabulary sets, 30 language categories, some of which include time, home, sounds, tourism, animals, and health, five learning modes, Spanish pronunciation, the ability to compare your progress with others online, and much more. Hello Word Deluxe English | Spanish is available for free today only (8/26). It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of five ratings. Universal: DropZap ($.99 -> Free): A puzzle game that mashes up a few genres.  Tap and drag your finger across the screen to select a column to drop your block in.  When a block lands, it will fire lasers and shrink the blocks below it and on each side of it.  Large blocks will shrink one size, and the smallest block will disappear, possibly creating a massive chain reaction.  Keep dropping blocks until you can't drop anymore.  The game features five modes of play, including split-screen multiplayer, and global leaderboards. DropZap is available for free for a limited time. It has a three-star rating, and a total of 26 ratings.
