Today's list features two apps that are deceiving to the eye, two sports apps and an app that aggregates the position of your friends from various social networks. Disclaimer: All prices are subject to change at any time and without notice regardless of stated free duration. Phone and iPod Security - Pro ($.99 -> Free): An entertainment app that can probably only trick those unfamiliar with iOS. Have a family member or friend place their finger on the scanner to "unlock" the iPhone. The app will go through its motions, and eventually an alarm will sound. Go through the process again, only this time tap the words above the scanner before placing your finger on it. This will allow you access, giving the perception that it actually scanned and recognized your fingerprint. Phone and iPod Security - Pro is available for free today only (8/15). It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 131 ratings. Arcade QB Pass Attack ($1.99 -> Free): An arcade football throwing game. Play either classic or progressive mode, each of which requires you to throw footballs through holes to score points. You are able to throw footballs by simply flicking from the bottom to the top of the screen. The game features local and global leaderboards as well. Arcade QB Pass Attack is available for free for an undisclosed amount of time. It has a three-star rating, and a total of 21 ratings. Streetball ($.99 -> Free): A side-scrolling basketball game that allows you to play games of two on two, first to 21 or h.o.r.s.e. In two on two and first to 21, you control your character via an on-screen joystick and action buttons. In h.o.r.s.e. you must make baskets by drawing the shape on the screen to the best of your ability. The game features 14 character, stat tracking and local multiplayer. Streetball is available for free today only (8/15). It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 766 ratings. Universal: TwentyThree ($.99 -> Free): A rather neat social app that aggregates the positions of your friends from various social networks and places them on a map so you can see where they last checked in. Supported services currently include: Foursquare, Gowalla, Brightkite and Twitter. The app also allows you to check-in across all accounts at once, accepts an unlimited number of accounts, merges like contacts on different services and more. TwentyThree is available for the next week. It has a three-star rating, and a total of six ratings. iPad only: Illusions for iPad ($.99 -> Free): Your basic illusions app. This one features dozens of optical illusions, high speed photography and sidewalk illusions that you can swipe through. Just take a look and prepare to be amazed. Illusions for iPad is available for free until September 1st. It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of six ratings. Developers: If you are a developer who would like to get your app included in our “Apps Gone Free” daily lists, here’s our basic set of rules:
- The app must be free for at least one whole day.
- It must have at least a three-star average rating at the time it goes free.
- The app must not have been free numerous times (3+) over the last six months.
