iTunes U: 300 Million Downloads Strong

The world of education has certainly been changed by iTunes U. Launched in 2007, iTunes U helps member institutions distribute educational PDF, audio and video contents for students through iTunes all over the world. A success apparently as Apple announced today that the number of iTunes U downloads has just surpassed 300 million. “iTunes U makes it easy for people to discover and learn with content from many of the world’s top institutions,” said Apple Vice President of Internet Services Eddy Cue in a statement. “With such a wide selection of educational material, we’re providing iTunes users with an incredible way to learn on their computer, iPhone, iPod or iPad.” iTunes U currently has over 350,000 offerings available and it serves hundreds of institutions including many in the U.S. and abroad.
