QuickAdvice: Slay Monsters On The Run with Monster Dash
Monster Dash ($0.99) by Halfbrick Studios is a simple pick-up-and-play action game where you see how far you can go.
Monster Dash presents four different levels, each with its own type of monster. You're pitted against either vampires, mummies, zombies, or demons. The levels appear randomly and change every 1000 meters.
Pick up your shotgun and run, run like you've never ran before! Jump by tapping the arrow on the left, shoot by tapping the arrow on the right. Make sure to avoid those nasty spikes along the way and don't fall to your death. Oh, and make sure you kill the horde of various monsters that stand in your way.
You get three hearts of life and once you take three hits, it's game over. The hearts get depleted every time you run into a monster or a spike. There's the occasional heart along the way you run, so make sure to nab it for extra life.
Do you wish you had more firepower against these baddies? Good news! There's various gun power-ups that you can find along your path of monster destruction. Random boxes of The Pacifier, Submachine Gun, Machinegun Jetpack (whoa!), and Mr. Zappy will appear, and it's your job to break the box and get the goods. Each only have a limited amount of bullets though, so use them wisely! Or you can always try jumping on them, I mean, that worked in old-school games so why not here?
Now how far can you go? Remember, it's an immediate game over if you fall to your death, so no hearts can save you from that.
The game also lets you resume where you left off in case you get an interruption, so don't stress out if a call gets in your way of beating your high score. You can also view your statistics over time, which is fun to see how good or bad you are at the game. Plenty of achievements will keep you at it for a good while, and you can share or brag to your OpenFeint friends about it.
Also make sure to check out the mini-game where you can kill the monsters that show up on the main menu just by tapping them (there's an achievement for this, so try it).
Halfbrick has released another fantastic game. I found this to be insanely addictive and fun, and just a great challenge to try and beat your own best score. The graphics are smooth and look great on the iPhone 4 Retina display, and it's just fun to pick up and play for a few minutes.
This is a better version of Canabalt with monsters and bullets! So what are you waiting for? Get this game for guaranteed fun!
