QuickAdvice: Retina Wallpapers HD Brings Plethora of High Quality Images to Your iPhone 4
Retina Wallpapers HD - 640x960 Wallpaper and Background (Free) by girlsapp4.us is an app that delivers exceptional, high quality images straight to your iPhone 4's Retina Display.
The first thing you'll see when you launch the app is page 1 of over 500 of high quality images designed specifically for the iPhone 4's 640x960 resolution Retina Display. These pages are scrollable by swiping the screen left or right, so it's an endless wall of some of the crispest and sharpest images I've ever seen.
The images can be separated by Hot, Recent, or Random. You can also search by tag (pretty much like categories) or specific keywords. When you find an image you like, just tap it and it will show the full image in all of its high resolution glory. Be careful to not drool on your device now! There will be a little menu bar that shows up on the image, which will allow you to go back to the gallery, share, start a slideshow of all the images, favorite, and finally save it.
When you save an image, a small little bar will pop up at the bottom, saying 'Saving image...' and then vanish, only to pop up again saying 'Image saved'. I suppose this allows for you to view more images while saving another. These are high resolution pictures, after all, so it may take a few seconds to save each image. I think this is a great implementation, because it allows you to view more images while you patiently wait.
When you share an image, it's done by e-mail, Facebook, or Twitter. With e-mail, it will have some text in the message body and also the full picture, so it is sent as an attachment. Tweeting it will post a message (optional) with a link to the image you selected. Facebooking it will provide a link to the image as well, along with an optional message. An iTunes link to get the app itself is posted with all three sharing methods.
There is also another big feature that this app has that I haven't really seen in other wallpaper apps - it allows you to upload your own to share with the community of users. You can either upload it from your Camera or Photo Library. This is a huge plus for those that believe they are creative enough to submit some awesome Retina wallpapers.
The app itself is free, but supported by ads. There will be more wallpapers added all the time, which the app will notify you about. There is also an option to remove the ads for $4.99, done as an in-app purchase. But this app seems to be pretty good, so I'm sure that there will be some people out there that will support this awesome developer. And if you have something to tell the developer, leave it in the Feedback section.
This is one of the best wallpaper apps I've seen for the iPhone 4's Retina display. If you've got yourself an iPhone 4 and are looking for fantastic wallpapers, I would highly recommend downloading this one and exploring the amazing selection of wallpapers. The interface is just one of the slickest I've seen so far, and there's just so many choices in wallpaper images - it gathers some of the best images ever and has it all in one neat little app for you. Truly some great stuff.
This is simply just an amazing app. I'm surprised that it's even offered for free at all. It's well worth the price (but you may think differently).
Just make sure to not drool all over your device now that you've seen what your Retina Display can really do. Because you know, that would be bad for your shiny baby.
