For those of you still experiencing problems using or accessing jailbreakme.com (the online jailbreaking tool), we've just heard about a handy little workaround. Instead of visiting jailbreakme.com, just point Mobile Safari to jailbreakme.ca. This mirror will then redirect you to a working version of the jailbreaking site. As a reminder, the site (obviously) allows you to jailbreak both you iPad and iPhone/iPod touch (up to the 4.0.1 and 3.2.1 firmware). Once you are redirected to the correct site, it will ask you whether or not you want to jailbreak. Assuming you say yes, the process takes about one minute. Then, a Cydia app will appear on your home screen and you are good to go! The site suggests that you sync and backup your iDevice with iTunes prior to jailbreaking, it's a very good suggestion. You don't want to lose your data. As a jailbreak novice, I was skeptical of using this site and I had visions of my iPad crashing. However, the site and Cydia app it creates rocks! One word of caution however: Apple has already closed the loophole that allows the current jailbreak in the 4.0.2 update on the iPhone or 3.2.2 on the iPad. Therefore, please keep this in mind prior to updating your iDevice as you might lose the ability to jailbreak for a little while.
