Andrew Kaz's Universal Digital Ruler Goes 2.0 - Offers Up New Apple Products In Celebration

September 20, 2010
The initial version of Andrew and Alexa Kaz's Ruler app was a good start, as it allowed those in a pinch to quickly measure physical objects using the most convenient devices around, their iPhones and iPads.  But apparently Andrew and Alexa weren't exactly ecstatic about Ruler's initial reception, so they decided to start all over again in order to create the best digital ruler around; and Ruler 2 is the result of their hard work. Ruler 2's focus is even more on simplicity and accuracy than ever before.  To measure a physical object with Ruler 2, simply align it with the left edge of your iPhone or iPad's screen, and then drag and align the slider with the other end of your object.  The measurement will be clearly displayed within the slider right down to 32nds of an inch or .02 centimeters.  You can toggle between the two measurements with a flip of a switch. To measure objects larger than your iPhone or iPad's screen, align it once again with the left edge of your screen, and then keep track of where the right edge of your screen reached on the object.  Move your device over to that point, aligning the left edge of your screen with it, and then slide the ruler itself over until it clicks by tapping and dragging.  Repeat the process until you have reached the end of the object.  Now you will be able to bring the slider over to get your measurement. Measurements can be copied and pasted, or saved in the database included within the app.  You can save as many measurements as you would like, and a counter at the bottom will give you a rounded whole number of all of your measurements.  Saved measurements are also displayed on the ruler itself as red lines until deleted. Ruler 2 for iPhone and iPad is now available in the App Store for the introductory price of $.99.  The update is, of course, available for free to existing users. To celebrate this brand new version of Ruler 2, Andrew and Alexa will be giving away tons of great Apple products, including the brand-new 64GB iPod touch, the new 16GB iPod nano, the new, smaller AppleTV, and the new iPod shuffle.  To participate, simply head to the official Ruler 2 website and follow the rules.  Good luck!
