Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars HD Arrives For iPad

iPad gamers take note: Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars HD is now available. The game, which was released for the iPhone/iPod touch in January, is available today in the App Store for $9.99. Created by Rockstar Games, the app comes with amazing 1024 x 768 HD graphics, plus new control layouts especially created for the iPad. It also includes improved lighting and explosion effects that look very cool on the larger screen. Still, if you've played the game on your iPhone, don't expect many surprises with this version. Other than the improved graphics and special controls for the device, the game is essentially the same. And, if you've plucked down $9.99 for the iPhone game, the iPad version might not be worth an additional purchase. As Redmond Pie noted, Chinatown Wars didn't sell nearly as well for the Nintendo DS and PSP compared to previous Grand Theft Auto games. Still, as I like to remind readers, iPad games are a lot cheaper than their game console equivalents, so you certainly have little to lose, even at the $9.99 price point. Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars HD is available right now in the App Store. It is the first game in the GTA series to be released for the iPad.
