iPhone And iPad Apps Gone Free: iCut Deluxe, CalculatorLab, TallyPad And More

September 13, 2010
Today's list includes a classic game of Pong, a hack and slash side-scroller, an app that allows you to tally almost anything, and much more. Disclaimer: All prices are subject to change at any time and without notice regardless of stated free duration. iPhone: The Glowing Void ($1.99 -> Free): A collection of three mini games: avoidance, filler, and burst. In avoidance, you have to simply avoid the other dots by tilting and turning your device.  In filler, you must fill 70 percent of the screen by touching and holding to create dots, but you can't let the red dot hit you while you do.  In burst, you must keep creating large circles by tapping and holding without getting hit.  The game features Agon online integration as well to provide leaderboards. The Glowing Void is available for free today only (9/13).  It has a three-star rating, and a total of 48 ratings. Pong '72 ($.99 -> Free): A recreation of the 1972 classic, Pong.  Control your paddle by sliding your finger on the screen in an attempt to keep the ball from getting by you.  The game features monochrome graphics, classic gameplay, three difficulty levels, a two-player mode, online leaderboards, and 8-bit sound effects. Pong '72 is available for free today only (9/13). It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 27 ratings. Tangle ($1.99 -> Free): In this puzzle game, each island has a number on it, which represents the number of bridges that can be connected to it.  You must connect islands to other islands by tapping on them without exceeding the number of bridges on each island. Islands can not be connected diagonally, bridges must be attached to two islands, all islands must be connected, and bridges must not cross each other. Tangle is available for free for an undisclosed amount of time. It has a four-star rating, and a total of nine ratings. Warrior Nation-Blade ($.99 -> Free): A side-scrolling hack and slash game that features 22 enemies to take on, the ability to unleash large combos, boss battles, the ability to upgrade your character, three levels of difficulty, and on-screen controls. Warrior Nation-Blade is available for free until September 23rd. It has a four-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of seven ratings. Universal: iCut Deluxe ($.99 -> Free): In iCut, you are simply required to cut shapes into congruent parts by tapping pieces to color them.  The game starts out easy in order to give you an idea of what actually must be accomplished, and as you progress, more colors and complex shapes start to enter the mix.  The game features 1008 puzzles, six modes, multitasking with iOS 4, Retina display optimization, and more. iCut Deluxe is available for free today only (9/13). It has a four-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 27 ratings. Speedy Pigs - High Speed Warning ($.99 -> Free): A distance game where you control a speedy pig via tilt, and dodge all of the other animals in the forest.  The game features unlockable characters, unlockable power-ups, and unlockable scenes.  It also includes three different speeds, and OpenFeint integration. Speedy Pigs is available for free for a limited time. It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 39 ratings. iPad only: CalculatorLab ($.99 -> Free): A complete calculator solution for your iPad.  It features a large, easy to read display, the ability to assign values to 25 predefined variables, automatic expression bracketing, warnings when there are errors in your expressions so you can find them, history, the ability to share your work via email, adjustable font size, and much more. CalculatorLab is available for free for a limited time. It has a four-star rating, and a total of nine ratings. TallyPad ($.99 -> Free): A customizable tally counter for your iPad.  It features three open boxes which can be renamed, so you can tally almost anything.  It also features the ability to assign values for four different finger gestures on the fly.  For example, a single tap can add one to your tally count, a two-finger tap can add two, a vertical swipe can add five, and a horizontal swipe can add ten.  But you don't have to use those values, they are just examples.  You can also have the app include decimals instead of just whole numbers. TallyPad is available for free for a limited time. It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 39 ratings.
