Labyrinth 2 Gains Game Center And Retina Support
September 21, 2010
Those on the lookout for Game Center-enabled games are in for a treat, as Illusion Labs' nearly flawless digital labyrinth game, Labyrinth 2, has been updated with Game Center achievement and leaderboard support. In addition, the game has also been prettied up with Retina graphics.
Labyrinth 2's Game Center integration adds 36 new achievements and two leaderboards. The achievements are in addition to the awards already included within the game, and consist of things like "Pinball mania," which requires you to hit a bumper 2,000 times, and "Get a life," which requires you to play the game for at least 24 total hours. It looks like you are going to have to put in a fair amount of work in order to get all 36 achievements.
The game's two leaderboards are "Level Packs Played" and "Distance Rolled." Both should be self explanatory, but keep in mind that Labyrinth 2 features the ability to create, publish, and download free level packs from players all over the world, so in regards to "Level Packs Played," the sky is the limit.
It would have been nice to see time-based leaderboards for each of the included levels or even online multiplayer -- since the game already features local multiplayer -- but we will just have to hold out hope that these additional social features will make their way into the game in the future.
If you already own Labyrinth 2, now's the time to get back into the ball rolling action and earn some achievements. If you don't already own the game, well, you really don't have any more excuses. Sure, Labyrinth 2 is $4.99, but you get tons of unique levels with all kinds of different obstacles besides holes, ball ghosts, a level editor, the ability to download additional levels for free, the most finely-tuned controls found in a labyrinth game, local four-player multiplayer, and now achievements, leaderboards, and Retina graphics.
