The highly acclaimed retro-inspired rhythm game, Bit.Trip Beat, is now available for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad thanks to Namco.
Bit.Trip Beat is a rhythm game that combines Pong-like gameplay with interactive beats. It was originally developed for Nintendo Wii due to its use of motion controls, which made the game perfectly suitable for Apple's iDevices.
In the game you must move a paddle up and down the screen in order to deflect the bouncing beats back from which they came. The beats enter the screen to various techno tunes, so you kind of have an idea of what to expect. As the game goes on, beats start to move around in mysterious ways, bouncing from top to bottom, flying in ridiculously quick, and sometimes even stopping only to start again. You will have to be nimble and time your movements well in order to achieve the highest score. If you miss too many beats, the game is over.
The game features finely-tuned accelerometer controls, making the gameplay fun and rewarding at the same time. If tilting doesn't suit your fancy, you can always switch to touch controls. It includes a total of three levels, all of which were included in the original version game. Three additional levels that are exclusive to iOS are available via in-app purchase for $1.99.
Bit.Trip Beat also includes Game Center integration, featuring leaderboards, achievements, and online multiplayer. You can also take on a friend locally via Bluetooth.
