The Hero HD ($1.99) Strap on your spandex, and take to the skies cleaning up the city as you go The Hero now appearing in HD on your iPad. You will face bank robbers, army tanks and helicopters, as well as mutant bees and aliens. You're given a 2D side scroller with a cityscape in the background, and various enemies in the foreground as well as adoring fans hanging out windows waiting for high fives.

The game features a 15 level campaign mode as well as four types of survival modes which vary the city size and types of enemies. There are also mini games to unlock, and the game uses Crystal for online high scores and mini-games. In other words there is a ton to do in this game, and this one really has legs.

The main problem with the iPhone version was the controls, and sadly the same controls remain. There is a new option with single finger control which is even tougher to maneuver. That's not the say the default d-pad is difficult, it's just takes awhile to get used to, and doesn't allow for the most precision in your movements.

The game looks beautiful on the iPad with absolutely gorgeous art and detail. Then there are all the animations of destroying enemies, or simply watching The Hero glide through the city. There are multiple action packed sound tracks to fit the action packed gameplay.

There is never a dull moment with always something to do, whether it's beating bad guys or getting high fives to keep up your fame meter. If the fame meter depletes it's game over so you have to be conscious of it. The variety of the enemies, and the waves that come at you require an always changing strategy, and always engaging gameplay.

The iPad version doesn't offer much difference from the iPhone version features wise, and there isn't even a grander perspective. You would think you would be able to see more of the city at once, and if you do it's hardly noticeable.

The game is only $1.99 so if you've never played the iPhone version it's a true joy on the iPad. If you've played the iPhone version you can move along as there's nothing to see here that you haven't seen before.

The iPad version is relatively similar to the iPhone version, so be sure to read our full review for a full taste of the game.
