Spectra Magazine App Brings A Fiction Subscription To Apple Devices
September 6, 2010
Anyone that thinks sci-fi or fantasy fiction is dead, hasn't heard of Spectra Magazine. The UK-based company recently came on the scene by offering great reads as part of its new e-magazine publication. It is available now for the iPhone/iPod and iPad as separate apps.
Spectra plans to be digital-only and is specifically designed to fit your mobile device. The first "issue" is available in the App Store for $13.99. While the price might seem high, consider this a subscription fee that will bring you six monthly issues through February 2011. This works out to just $2.23 an issue.
The actual app is powered by Codex Viewer technology, which allows users to move from page to page with a simple swipe of the finger.
Spectra plans to publish four original stories each month from a number of established fiction writers. For example, the first issue contains a lead story written by Hugo Award-winning author Kristine Kathyrn Rusch.
If you’re into science fiction, fantasy, horror, or the broader genre of “speculative fiction,” be sure to give Spectra Magazine a look. It is available now in the App Store for the iPad and for the iPhone/iPod touch.
