TomTom Offers Free iPhone 4 Adapters To Current And Future Car Kit Owners

September 9, 2010
Yesterday it seemed as if iPhone 4 owners who wanted to utilize their costly TomTom GPS Car Kits with their flatter, more square devices were completely out of luck.  But today, everything has changed. TomTom has revealed a new page on their website that will allow current car kit owners to receive a free iPhone 4 adapter.  The adapter is a small, easy-to-install external piece that affixes directly to the Car Kit.  Apparently it has been extensively tested in order to ensure optimal performance.
"At TomTom, we remain focused on meeting consumer needs through our continued product innovations, commitment to the mobile platform and support of Apple’s advancement," said Tom Murray, senior vice president of market development for TomTom Inc. "We’re pleased to deliver the adapter to our TomTom App for iPhone customers so they can upgrade their TomTom Car Kit without the associated costs that can sometimes occur when they upgrade their mobile device."
The page is already live, but customers won't be able to request an adapter until tomorrow, September 10th.  Orders will begin shipping sometime around the middle of September. Additionally, all new TomTom Car Kits shipping after September 1, 2010 will include the adapter, not applied, so users of previous models can utilize the kit along with iPhone 4 users. Sure, TomTom's response to this issue may have taken a bit longer than many may have hoped, but at least they have done the right thing and offered a solution for free.  So just hang in there iPhone 4 owners, your TomTom Car Kit will soon be usable once again!
