Voice Tutor Hopes To Improve Everyone's Singing Voice
September 23, 2010
Most of us aren't terrific singers, even if the shower says otherwise. Still, for those that want to learn to sing, or do it better, there is now an app for just that purpose. Voice Tutor, from IMPACK Productions, Inc., is available now for the iPhone/iPod touch.
The app, priced at $4.99, helps users improve their voices by using a full menu of workouts, fixes and expert tools. When using the app for the first time, you will be asked to perform a diagnostic test, which compares your voice to four sample recordings. Based on the findings of the test, the app will put you through a battery of practice exercises. In time, you'll learn to improve your overall singing performance. Of course, that is the hope, but to do so takes time. The app contains more than four hours of exercises.
Each of the sections in Voice Tutor was created by professional voice instructors, so this app isn't geared towards the karaoke crowd. Rather, it seriously attempts to assist you in improving your singing voice over time. Still, the app is fun to use for amateurs and would-be Susan Boyles alike.
However, one word of caution, often cited in the comments section for the app, is its inability to record your singing performance. Nor, does it actually do any direct analysis of your voice following the initial diagnostic test. Please keep this in mind before downloading the app.
Still, after playing around with Voice Tutor for a few hours, I thought it was well worth the $4.99 price. If anything, it gave me an opportunity to improve my singing in the shower. The app is available today in the App Store.
