Cut The Rope Sells 1 Million Copies In 10 Days, Becomes The Fastest Selling App To Date
October 14, 2010
The folks over at Chillingo and ZeptoLab must be all smiles today, as their adorable physics-based puzzle game, Cut the Rope, has reached the one million sales mark in only 10 days. According to Chillingo, this makes Cut the Rope the fastest selling title in the App Store to date.
“Cut the Rope’s popularity has skyrocketed throughout recent days as fans eagerly share with others how addictive and fun the gameplay is on iOS devices,” explains Chris Byatte, Director of Chillingo. “We are thrilled to see Om Nom’s fame spread across the world and are collaborating with Developer, ZeptoLab to bring fresh new updates, which will be revealed soon.”The last known publisher to announce such a feat was PopCap back in February 2010, when they revealed that Plants Vs Zombies had reached the 300,000 sales mark in nine days. That's quite a difference. For those of you who don't have Cut the Rope installed on your iDevice, well, you should. It's an addictive puzzler that requires you to carefully place a piece of candy in Om Nom's mouth by cutting ropes. The game currently includes 100 levels, each with three stars to collect, and Game Center integration. Cut the Rope is available for iPhone ($.99) and iPad ($1.99). If you can't get enough of Om Nom and Cut the Rope, we have a little treat for you below, which was discovered on ZeptoLab's Twitter feed. It's a 3D paper model of a box with Om Nom inside! It doesn't require tape or glue, just a steady hand and a hobby knife to do the dirty work. Enjoy feeding Om Nom.
In order to inspire everyone, I decided to actually create the Om Nom box myself. Embedded below is a short video of the final product.
