Delicious Library Still MIA From The App Store

In the days before iPhones and iPads, cataloging was done on a Mac. If you wanted to keep track of your book, movie, music or game collection you turned to Delicious Library, by Delicious Monster.
Still available (and amazing), Delicious Library allows you to add items to your collection either through your Mac’s iSight camera (using a barcode) or manually.
Regrettably, the application is not available as an app for either the iPhone/iPod touch or iPad. If any Mac application should somehow make it to the App Store, it should be Delicious Library.
Although the company behind Delicious Library had originally offered an iPhone app, it was quickly pulled some time ago. The reason? The application is tied heavily to Amazon’s database and adding it to a handheld device is not allowed.
As reported by TUAW at the time, there is a clause in Amazon’s API terms and conditions that reads as follows:
You will not, without our express prior written approval requested via this link, use any Product Advertising Content on or in connection with any site or application designed or intended for use with a mobile phone or other handheld device.That was in 2009. Now, TUAW has revisited the subject with Delicious Monster executives to see if they are any closer to releasing an app for Apple’s devices. According to TUAW:
Delicious Library has the ability to make use of Bluetooth-enabled scanners to read barcodes, and since the iPhone's camera is perfectly capable of reading the same barcodes, couldn't it be used as a scanner interface to Delicious Library? Heck, Apple seems to be loosening their restrictions regarding Bluetooth.
"That's an idea we're actively exploring, as it wouldn't upset Amazon's terms of service, and it'd be cool," Chief Delicious Monster Wil Shipley told me last month. "But we have nothing to announce at this time, except our next product is not going to be this."I’d be thrilled to see Delicious Library return to the App Store and hopefully it will in one form or another. In the meantime, if you haven’t tried the application for your Mac do so today. It is available as a free trial or $40 for the full version.
