Fumes Stunt Racer Lands In The App Store - Plus A Chance To Win A Copy
October 13, 2010
Fumes Stunt Racer, the retro-inspired 3D racer by Sector3, has landed safely in the App Store. Now the question is, will you be able to get your four-wheeled vehicle to do the same? Plus, we have a chance for you to win a copy.
Fumes Stunt Racer is inspired by the beloved 1989 Amiga title, Stunt Car Racer. Just like that original title, Fumes Stunt Racer has you racing around raised 3D tracks at high speeds in order to score the best lap times and move on to the next track. Each track has bronze, silver, and gold medals to earn based on lap times, and the ability to post your times to OpenFeint.
Since there aren't any walls on the tracks, you will be required to ease off the gas and/or break to take corners and line up your jumps. Falling off of the track will set you back quite a bit, and will most likely result in you missing out on a medal, so your best bet is to enable the "Auto-brake" feature at first in order to get a feel for the car. It may reduce your lap times a tad, but it's better than constantly falling off of the track. As you become more comfortable with the game and tune the sensitivity to your liking, you can take the training wheels off.
The game currently offers 15 tracks, each with massive jumps to launch your vehicle off of, but there is much more to come. Below is an outline of what Sector3 intends to offer via future updates:
