My family has always been a Gap fan. So I was a bit excited when I learned that Gap had released an iPhone app which I thought was a product catalog kind of app. But I was wrong. It was actually a casting call app for their now 5 year old Casting Call contest for kids age 10 and under. Yes, the said Gap contest has become so popular, boasting 1 million submission last year, that Gap decided to take it to a new platform - Apple's equally popular iOS devices, iPhone and iPod Touch.
Available now as a free download, the Gap Casting Call app lets you enter your child, age 10 and under into the contest easily. You can now start taking photos of your children using your iPhone or iPod Touch camera, upload it using the app and then vote for your child to become the Fan Favorite winner. A nice and useful feature of the app is the chance it gives you to promote your children on Twitter and Facebook.
I was very excited about the contest and the casting call app, but unfortunately it is only available to U.S. residents. There goes my kids' chances of getting famous. Anyway, if you're qualified, better start taking the cutest shots of your kid and submit it via the Gap Casting Call app. Your kid could be one of the 20 finalist to be flown all the way to San Francisco for a professional photo shoot, followed by the final selection of four winners sometime in December.
Who knows? Because of your iPhone 4, the Gap Casting Call app and of course, your cute kid - you could bring home a $1,000 Gap Gift Card and have your kids model the 2011 Gap Kids Collection!
