iPhone And iPad Apps Gone Free: Diptic, Pigeon Squadron, Shibuya, And More

October 3, 2010
Today's list includes a universal image combining app, a pigeon-relieving arcade game, a very unique puzzle game, and more. Disclaimer: All prices are subject to change at any time and without notice regardless of stated free duration. iPhone: Pigeon Squadron ($.99 -> Free): In this arcade game, you are part of an elite team of paramilitary pilot pigeons who are required to relieve themselves on unsuspecting civilians below.  Tilt your device side to side to steer your pigeon, and tilt it front and back to speed up or slow down.  Then just tap the screen to drop your load.  The game features 45 missions, three locations, and local stat tracking. Pigeon Squadron is available for free today only (10/3).  It has a three-star rating, and a total of 45 ratings. Shibuya ($1.99 -> Free): A very unique puzzle game where empty blocks stream in from the top of the screen and you must tap them to fill them in with colors.  On the left-hand side of the screen the next color in line is previewed, and tapping on a block will make it that color.  You don't have to tap the blocks in order, however, and this is how you make matches.  When two or more colored blocks are matched, they can be removed from the board.  The game features two modes of play, five speeds, achievements, online leaderboards, and five licensed songs. Shibuya is available for free today only (10/3). It has a four-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 35 ratings. White Knight HD ($.99 -> Free): A puzzle game where you control a horse that moves just like a knight does in chess with the goal of covering all of the pieces on the board.  Since you can only move in an "L" shape, the larger puzzles can be somewhat difficult, so plan ahead.  The game features five environments with multiple rounds, and OpenFeint integration. White Knight HD is available for free today only (10/3). It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 14 ratings. Universal: Diptic ($3.99 -> Free): An image creation app that allows you to combine multiple photos to create one masterpiece. First choose one of the 19 different layouts, and then add photos by taking a brand new one or importing one from your library.  You can manipulate each image in a variety of ways, and then export your creation to the Camera Roll or share it via email. Diptic is available for free today only (10/3). It has a four-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 350 ratings. iPad: HD Wallpapers ($.99 -> Free): A high definition wallpaper app that features over 20 different categories, like beaches, black and white, and fall colors, and allows you to use them as backgrounds.  Apparently there are over 30,000 wallpapers, with more being added daily. HD Wallpapers is available for free for a limited time. It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 16 ratings.
