An Official Posterous App Is Released For the iPhone
October 12, 2010
Posterous has finally released its own app for the iPhone/iPod touch. The app, like the Posterous service itself, allows you to post any mix of text, photos and video instantly to the web for free.
If you already have a Posterous account, all you need to do is click on the “login” button within the app to get started. From there, you can instantly add posts to your existing Posterous website. You can even create a new site on the fly using your iPhone.
The post box within the app looks very similar to what you see when typing an email message on your iPhone. It shows a popup keyboard and gives you plenty of room to type your post.
For new users, the Posterous app makes it easy to join in on the fun. Just type a new post into the app. From there, the app will ask you if you want to view your site or send a link to it via email.
Hitting the “Save Your Site” button will allow you to officially sign up for the free Posterous service. You will be asked to register with your email address and password. Also, you will assign yourself a website address. It will be something like: mysite.posterous.com, with the “mysite” being whatever you decide on as a title.
Once registration is complete, you can add posts to your Posterous site on the fly using the app, or through the Posterous website itself.
I’ve been using Posterous for a few months, and definitely find it a quick and simple way to journalize my life through a blog. The addition of an official Posterous app will make this process easier than ever.
The free Posterous app is available today in the App Store for the iPhone.
