Access Your iDevice's File System With Phone Disk - Now Free For A Limited Time
October 30, 2010
If you ever wished you could access your iDevice's file system to grab a picture or store a file, you've probably realized that iTunes is very limited in terms of what it lets you do. There are several third-party apps that can give you additional access, even if you didn't jailbreak. One of them is MacroPlant's Phone Disk, and good news, it's free until the end of November.
With Phone Disk, you can view files on your device straight from your Mac's Finder or Explorer on Windows. You can open, edit, save or copy files directly from the device. If you want to edit a file on your device, you can also do that directly.
It also works with multiple devices, so you can transfer files from one device to the other with no problem.
This utility works with both jailbroken and non-jailbroken iPhones, but be aware you'll only have access to a very small portion of the file system if you didn't jailbreak.
If Phone Disk sounds like something you could use, simply go to MacroPlant's website (link) to download phone disk. You will need to input this registration code: 2H96A-QK7MX-8GEYK1V-ZR6S8 when asked for one.
Know any better alternatives (don't say OpenSSH)? Tell us in the comments!
