Pulse News 2.0 Arrives For iPad

October 2, 2010
One of the top-selling newsreader apps for the iPad was just updated. Pulse News Reader 2.0 was released today by the folks at Alphonso Labs. Plus, for a limited time, new users can download the app for $1.99! Pulse 2.0 allows 60 sources of news across five pages, or 12 feeds per page. It also includes a completely redesigned way of managing news feed sources. "Pulse Bazaar" provides a way to browse and discover good news sources, simply and quickly. Organization was definitely on the menu for the app's creators with this update. Each of the five pages can be renamed, so users can define each page by type. For example, if you follow politics you can rename page two "Politics" and then add up to 12 different feeds that show political news. The app comes with a list of preselected feeds or you can add more yourself. Plus, you can sort them any way you want. The "Pulse Bazaar" highlights "featured" sources and categories which makes adding of feeds that much easier. Currently featured are feeds for SimplyRecipes and Refinery29, just to name two. Hopefully, these will rotate on a regular basis, highlighting feeds that many of us haven't heard of, but might find interesting. I love this app and am thrilled with the update. Consider it the gold standard of iPad news readers available today. The Pulse News App is normally priced at $3.99 but for a limited time it is available in the App Store for $1.99. Download or update the app today. Pulse News Mini (for the iPhone/iPod touch) is also available.
