QuickAdvice: Change Your Eye Color With Eye Color Booth - Plus, Win A Promo Code!
Eye Color Booth - Multicolor Eye Changer ($0.99) by go forth apps lets you change your eye color in your photos. Ever wondered what you’d look like with blue eyes? Green? Purple? Orange and pink mixed together? Maize and blue, or your favorite team colors? Now you can try them all out! You can even get rid of that pesky red-eye.
This new app is from the same folks that brought you our previously reviewed apps I Am Vampire and Scary Clown Booth. It works much the same way. You know the drill: select a photo from your camera roll or snap one in-app. Place the circle markers on your eyes, and adjust them to fit. Don’t worry if the circle isn’t exactly the right shape -- if you have some overlap, you can fix that later. You can mark more than one person if your photo has multiple subjects. Tap “Done” and you’ll be led to a rainbow screen -- choose any color of the rainbow. In fact, you can choose more than one. Select the Multi-Color option if you want two colors in your eyes. The first color you select will cover the pupil and very outer edge of the iris. The second color will cover the rest of the iris.
Tap “Done” to be brought to the next screen. At this point, you can tap the backwards arrow to go back to the color-choosing screen if you don’t like the eye color you picked. Or, tap the “X” to access the eraser. You’ll need this if you accidentally got some color on your eyelids. The eraser was slightly awkward to use, but just zoom in as close as you can; it’s doable. Just be careful, because if you make a mistake you’ll need to start over. Tap “B&W” if you want the entire photo except for the fabulous eyes you have just created to be in black and white. And that’s it! Save, email, Facebook, or Twitter your results.
My only complaint about the app is that my pictures look nothing like the sample photos in iTunes. I purposely selected a photo taken with a DSLR camera, not an iPhone, in order to get the best quality photo I could. But, the results were just not as realistic or polished as the sample photos.
Still, you can have a lot of fun with this, trying on different eye colors. This app has a very useful function as well -- getting rid of flash-induced red-eye. I haven’t found that to be a problem with my iPhone photos, but if you do, Eye Color Booth is your answer.
