QuickAdvice: Pinhole Camera Brings The Origins of Cameras To Your iPhone
Pinhole Camera ($0.99) by iA is an app that recreates the vintage feeling of the old fashioned pinhole cameras from ye' old days.
The modern day camera evolved from the most simple of cameras - the pinhole. Now, there's an app for that.
The app has an interface that is pretty similar to that of Hipstamatic - it recreates the original pinhole camera by giving you a small viewfinder in what is supposed to be a box. Like Hipstamatic, it is very good at what it is supposed to do, complete with the analog interface.
There are three films to choose from: Color, B&W, and Exposure. The first two are pretty self-explanatory, but Exposure seems to add more bright and vivid colors than the ordinary Color film.
When taking photos, there is an option for 'double exposition.' This option lets you take two photos and merge them together to create a unique image, like a 'ghostly' photo. If the picture requires use of the iPhone 4 flash, there's an option for that as well.
Once you take your photos, they are automatically saved to the Camera Roll. One thing that needs to be noted - the app does not currently save the image in full resolution. I have heard that they are working to correct that in a future update, so hold off if you really, really want the full resolution images.
You can view your photos in the Gallery, which will give you options to directly email photos or share them on Facebook.
If you like unique, vintage looking photos, then Pinhole Camera is definitely worth a try, especially when it costs less than your morning cup of coffee. The only thing that's missing right now is the full resolution photos.
