Ninja Chicken is a unique color matching game from Kongzhong Corp. You must drag the colored ninja chickens to their zones on the screen as they move by on a conveyor belt. Other nasties like disguised pigs must be dragged off of the belt.
The Good
Ninja Chicken is fast paced matching game. You have 2-4 colour zones on screen and a conveyor belt that is always moving. Chickens of all different colours roll by on the belt and its your job to tap and drag them to the proper colored zone. Disguised pigs also appear and you drag them off the conveyor belt to make them disappear. Robot chickens should be left to just roll by.
This concept is simple, but the game constantly throws random effects into the mix to keep you on your toes. You might have two squares suddenly switch where they are or have them become black and white for a few seconds, so you have to remember which square is which. The game also features horizontal and vertically aligned levels. Later levels also feature many more chickens and move at a frenetic pace, ensuring you wont have an easy time.
Ina first for iPhone games I've seen doing well on stages earns you coins that you use to unlock artwork on the game. This is a neat touch.
Ninja Chicken looks great. It has a sharp cartoony style and is full of little animations and flourishes, like chickens disappearing differently depending on their colour and pigs using their umbrella to escape when you drag them off the belt. The game's look is vibrant and obviously had a lot of attention lavished on it.
The Bad
The sound is pretty average. The music is decent enough and doesn't get annoying. The sound effects however are quite repetitive and annoying. when you move a chicken to its square you get a happy clucking sound, which is annoying after you hear it 30 times in 3 minutes. Pigs are similarly annoying and the game lacks other sound effects.
The game also lacks Game Center integration. This is rather annoying, since the game has more than 70 achievements for Openfeint. Kongzhong has promised Game Center will be coming in the next update however, which will give the game a great deal of longevity for those who enjoy getting achievements.
The Verdict
Ninja Chicken is a good game for anyone and features fun, fast paced gameplay with a good dose of personality and flair. The fact the game is also free makes getting this game a no brainier. Download it today!
