Make Your Own Ringtone App Released; Get It For Free

October 12, 2010
Mobile17 has just released its Make Your Own Ringtone app for the iPhone/iPod touch. The app allows you to use songs in your iTunes library for ringtones. Best of all, we’re giving away some free promo codes so you can have the app for free! The app is regularly priced at $2.99 but it is currently available for $.99 in the App Store. To create a ringtone, users select the song from their iTunes library. From there, the app will determine if other Mobile17 users have already made a ringtone of the song. If they have, Make Your Own Ringtone suggests the most popular edits for each song using data from the company’s website. You can use the recommended ringtones or create your own.

If no one has used your song to create a ringtone previously, no problem. You simply hit “No matching songs?” and you can create your ringtone anyway you want. Ringtones can be between 1 and 40 seconds long and you decide where in each song you want the music to begin. Once you are finished, all created ringtones are stored on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, and installed through iTunes. No email address required.

The only way to use your ringtones on your iPhone is to sync them with your Mac or PC. However, this process is very simple and there is a how-to instructional video, which is also available from within the app itself:

Since the app uses data from the Mobile17 site, app content is updated automatically as changes are made to the website. This is nice to know. Get the Make Your Own Ringtone app today in the App Store. If you want a chance to win a free promo code, please leave us a comment below.
