Do You Snore? There's An App For That!

October 28, 2010
Do you need to know if you snore? Or, do you need a warning that you are in a bad sleeping position? If you answered yes to one or both of these questions, this may be the very app you've been dreaming of. Snore Inspector is an app for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch that informs you when you snore (and how loud), by recording an audio file while you are asleep. The app can then transform the data into a handy graph to help you determine your snoring sessions. You can even set up the app to vibrate the first time it hears a snore in order to let you know that you are in a sleeping position that is causing snoring. This app may be the perfect addition to your home screen, but before I point you to the App Store, there are two things you need to keep in mind about the app. First, you must remember that audio files can become large, especially if you sleep for ten hours. The developer noted in the app description that after one night, the file was about 200MB. After a month, this could possibly fill up your iDevice. The second thing that may become a problem is battery life. Recording an audio file all night is bound to drain your battery, not to mention that you will most likely need you device charged for the next day. To address both, be sure to have your device plugged in. If these two small issues aren't a problem, you can get Snore Inspector in the App Store now for only $0.99.
