Windowshop Gives iPad Users A New Way To Shop Amazon
October 26, 2010
Browsing Amazon's vast library of anything and everything from a mobile device -- even the iPad -- can be a daunting task due to its many ads, small text, and pop-up menus, which is why Amazon has just released an iPad-friendly version of their website in app form, and it's aptly titled Windowshop.
Windowshop was built from the ground up to provide iPad users with the best online shopping experience possible. From the get go, you can tell that this app was built for touching and swiping, as the main launch page allows you to scroll horizontally and vertically to browse through best sellers and new releases from a wide variety of categories instead of digging through menus. A search field is available at the top of the screen for those who know exactly what they want, or you can browse each and every category by recommendations, bestsellers, new releases, most gifted, and most wished for.
When viewing an item, a separate window pops up, giving you the ability to get a closer look at it, read details and user reviews, and view related products. If you have settled on an item, you can buy it instantly with Amazon's 1-Click checkout, or just add it to your cart and continue browsing. If it's something you believe a friend or family member may be interested, there are multiple sharing options, including email, Facebook and Twitter. If you can't commit to an item quite yet, you can add it to your wishlist.
Windowshop also features the ability to view and cancel orders, track packages, view or change 1-Click settings, manage your shopping cart, and manage your wishlists.
Amazon's Windowshop for iPad is now available in the App Store for free. It's an absolute must for anyone who frequently shops Amazon.com.
