AppleCare Protection Plans Can Now Be Transferred

November 2, 2010
Without making an announcement, Apple has changed its AppleCare Protection Plan. Now, customers are able to transfer a plan from one device to another. But, there is a catch: the policy only covers plans purchased within the last 30 days. This news comes from BGR which states:
Apple has made changes to its policy regarding the transferability of AppleCare Protection Plans, a source told BGR. Starting immediately, an Apple customer will have the ability to transfer AppleCare Protection Plan coverage to a new device without having to cancel the current plan and purchase a new one.

This isn't a gigantic change, but it could save some people money. Originally, if you wanted to transfer protection from one device to another, you needed to cancel the original policy and then buy another. This is no longer the case. It should  be noted that since June, consumers could transfer protection from one iPhone to another. Now you can do it with all of your Apple products.
