Elite Brings Their Collection Of ZX Spectrum Games To iPad

November 16, 2010
A little over one month ago, Elite Systems put smiles on the faces of early 80's U.K. gamers by releasing a collection of 8-bit ZX Spectrum games for iPhone and iPod touch. Now that same collection of games has been optimized and released for iPad in the form of ZX Spectrum: Elite Collection HD. ZX Spectrum: Elite Collection HD is nearly identical to its iPhone counterpart.  It includes a total of 12 hand selected games, six in each volume.  Each game includes detailed instructions, game-specific controls, authentic sounds, and original artwork, so hopefully they will be just as you remember. The games included in volume one are:
  • Turbo Esprit
  • Saboteur
  • Chuckie Egg
  • Harrier Attack
  • Frank Bruno's Boxing
  • Buggy Boy
And volume two:
  • Roller Coaster
  • Beyond the Ice Palace
  • Saboteur II: Avenging Angel
  • Batty
  • Kokotoni Wilf
  • Battle Ships
Elite has plans to add at least another four volumes to the collection, each with six games, within the next month.  The catch, however, is that they will set you back another $1.99 per volume.  The team is also constantly working on tweaking UI and gameplay elements to ensure you get the best possible experience. If you didn't grow up in the U.K., the ZX Spectrum will more than likely be foreign to you, but if you are fond of 8-bit games, this collection should satisfy your cravings regardless of where your gaming addiction started. ZX Spectrum: Elite Collection HD is now available in the App Store for $4.99.
