Enable One Click Mac AirPrinting

November 15, 2010
Recently we reported that AirPrint was removed from the Mac, and could be hacked into working by adding a few files. This method wasn't very tricky, but may have scared off some of our less geeky readers. A clever developer has written an app called “AirPrint Hacktivator.” The Mac application enables AirPrint with a single click. The app also can deactivate AirPrint with a single click. Enabling AirPrint will allow printers shared by your Mac to be seen and printed to from your iOS device. The image above is the icon for this new Mac app.

The app requires iTunes 10.1+ and Mac OS X 10.6.5. To use AirPrint you will, of course, need a handheld iOS 4.2 device like an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch (no Apple TV printing yet). You can download the Mac app free of charge at a website called: “Puting up with the Net.” As always make sure you have a good backup before trying this out.
