Beyond Flash: Adobe Systems Flirting With Apple With Photoshop Integration

November 8, 2010
It looks like Adobe Systems is about to join the iPad revolution. The company recently demoed some functionality that would allow its Photoshop users to interact with Apple’s device. As you might recall, the Mountain View, California-based company is unhappy with Apple’s decision not to support Flash on the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. However, life goes on and Adobe Systems is more than just Flash. According to MacRumors:
For several months, Adobe has been thinking about how it can involve the iPad and other tablet devices in the workflows of Photoshop users, asking users for feedback on what sorts of capabilities they might like to see.
Building on that feedback, the company has now taken its first steps in that direction, as evidenced by a pair of brief demos at last week's Adobe MAX conference in which Adobe Chief Technology Officer Kevin Lynch showed off the company's content-aware fill tool running on a Samsung Galaxy Tab and a color-mixing paint palette application running on an iPad.

The demos showed integration with not just the iPad, but also the iPhone/iPod touch. Photoshop is an expensive program. However, it is also the gold standard for many that use photography to make a living. By recognizing the benefits the iPad could have for its Photoshop customers, Adobe Systems is taking a step in the right direction. [Photos: MacRumors]
