A big update for OmniGraffle is now out and ready for download. OmniGraffle was one of the original iPad apps launched back in April. It is a great tool for organizing thoughts visually.
OmniGraffle 1.4 is now fully iOS 4.2 optimized. The app is now ahead of Apple by also adding built-in AirPrint support. Apple has not yet updated their own iWork apps to support this functionality.
OmniGraffle also adds iDisk and WebDAV support. The app can now download and export documents to your iDisk. The app is also smart enough to ask you if you’d like to replace the original document.
The big iOS 4.2 feature is AirPrint. When holding your iPad in portrait mode it will print in portrait mode. The app can also print in landscape mode by simply holding it in that orientation. This version of the app also gets auto resume. When you launch the app it will be ready for action.
The update also allows you to create your own stencils right on the iPad. Stencil creation can be accessed by tapping the word “Diagrams” on the home screen. The user will then have the ability to show diagrams and stencils, sort by title, or sort by date. When hitting show stencils it will allow the user to create a new stencil or open previously created ones.
Stencils are simply images, fonts, or other drag and drop items that can be used in OmniGraffle for diagram creation. Your newly created stencils will automatically appear in the stencil browser.
A bunch of other great little tweaks are included in the update. These include: a document scrubber, enhanced font controls, Konigi Wireframe Stencils, Graffletopia enhancements, and much more.
OmniGraffle is available now in the iPad App Store now for $49.99. It is a great app that continues to be updated with killer features.
