Orbitz has joined the App Store revolution! The travel site recently released its free app for the iPhone/iPod touch.
Users can search and make reservations for hotels, flights and cars using the app’s easy to use main page. Each choice is full of useful information. For example, hotels show guest reviews, maps and photos. Each can be sorted by the lowest price.
You can also find current flight information by selecting an airline, flight number and date of travel. This works great if you need to see if your loved one’s flight is arriving on time. You can even check gate and baggage claim information.
Current Orbitz customers can login to their account using the app to see existing trip information.
I have two criticisms: The company did not release an iPad version of its app. Also, I found that even with a Wi-Fi connection, the search times were slower than I feel is optimal. Still, overall the app is nice.
The Orbitz app is available today in the App Store.
