PhotoFast AP1000 Will Bring AirPlay To Your Car

November 24, 2010
AirPlay is one of the great new features in iOS 4.2. I have it setup so I can stream audio and video throughout my house using a network of Airport Express units and Apple TVs. One thing many would like to see is AirPlay in the car. A company based in Japan has a solution all ready to go. It is called the Photofast AP1000. The little box hooks into your car stereo through AUX ports or any other line in. The device is powered through a 12-volt connection. The AP1000 provides a Wi-Fi network in your car to communicate between your device and your car stereo. It looks like a great solution. But, there is still a drawback. The problem is that the music or audio must be stored locally on your iOS device. The Wi-Fi connection only provides a way to send audio from your device to the car. It does not provide an Internet connection, so streaming Pandora is out of the question. Currently there is no price or availability information being provided for the PhotoFast AP1000. We will let you know as soon as it does become available. In the future we’d love to see a 3G enabled AirPlay car device. What other ways would you like to see AirPlay used?
