Rapid Review: Doodle Devil - You've Played God, Now Play Devil
Doodle Devil™ ($0.99) by JoyBits Ltd. is the new game from Joybits that acts as the antithesis to Doodle God. Now you combine elements to tear everything down that Doodle God has built up. You begin with a human and an apple, and it's off to total destruction.
The app is titled as a Halloween version, but it missed out on the Holiday being released a few days late. It comes with 107 elements in 11 categories which is close to the original Doodle God containing 140 elements. The same one touch dragging interface is included as well as the hint system.
If you've played Doodle God you know what to expect with Doodle Devil as it's the exact same game just with some different elements. Some of the same elements and reactions are included though. The best part is discovering new items, and repetitions take away that enjoyment.
The app is nicely designed with a whole new background art style, and the same doodle artwork for each element. The varying quotes add a lot to the game with humor for each new creation. Once you start you'll want to find every single one of the 107 elements so it does provide some replay factor.
The new aspects are fun to discover with all the seven deadly sins as well as new monsters, and aspects of darkness. The updates to the original Doodle God take away some of the steam of Doodle Devil because there is so much induced in the former. If you're a fan of the original you'll like the new version, but just wish there was more new to it.
For $0.99 Doodle Devil is worth considering depending on how much you like the original.
