Rapid Review: Cut Cut Boom Pro - Slicing Animals, Fruit Ninja Style
Cut Cut Boom Pro ($0.99) takes the slicing mechanic of Fruit Ninja, and applies it to a very similar game that just uses animals instead of Fruit. The animals fly up, and you slice them trying to go for combos, but thankfully they're not cut in half, and instead you're just skinning them. Cut Cut Boom has the same classic mode with bombs flying up intermittently, and only allowing three objects to drop.
There is also a combo time mode which is similar to Zen mode giving you a minute thirty to score as much as you can. There is Plus+ and Game Center for online high scores and achievements. The game has the same fun style as Fruit Ninja, but loses some quality just because it's nearly an exact copy.
There are some nuances especially in the combo mode where there are a ton of animals on screen allowing for 20 plus combos. At other times the animals fly up in sequences like an arc, and you try for a continuous slice. The game is more forgiving when slicing for a combo allowing for a little bit more movement of your finger than Fruit Ninja.
The game isn't unique, but it's solidly made, and you will no doubt like it if you enjoy Fruit Ninja. If you don't like the idea of such a similar game that's completely understandable. The game does lag with big combos, and overall moves at a slower pace in comparison to Fruit Ninja.
Cut Cut Boom is worth considering depending on how much you like Fruit Ninja, and whether or not you’re turned off by a copy. If you still haven’t picked up Fruit Ninja definitely pick it up instead especially with the recent updates that provide much more content.
