Overview
Numulus is a unique math puzzler game by Pedro. You solve math problems using the glowing numbers quickly for points, getting bonus time if you do it quickly.
Features
Numulus features 5 difficulty levels that add harder sums and online leaderboards. It also features Plus+ support.
The good
Numulus is a maths puzzle game. You are presented with a cloud of differently sized and colored numbers. The game then tells you what numbers to use for the problem, for example the large red and the small green. You then find those numbers in the cloud and tap the screen to make a keypad appear for your answer. Answering quickly earns you more playtime time, you start with very little time, so you must think quickly and solve sums fast to earn enough time to keep your game going.
This is a unique idea, as the game uses the visual style of numbers to make you think not only about the answer to the sum, but also about finding the numbers in the first place.
The game looks nice and clear with large easy to read numbers and vibrant colors; even though it is just numbers and words the game looks fine.
Soundwise Numulus features ambient techno and soaring electronic tracks, which are perfect for the game's pacing and suit it well.
The Bad
Numulus is good in short bursts and its timed mechanic makes it somewhat addictive, but the game at its heart is simple and probably wont hold the player's interest for too long, unless you are really into maths. The game lacks Game Center support which might annoy some people, as the Plus+ network is not integrated into Game Center like Openfeint is.
The Verdict
Numulus is a decent number puzzler that will appeal to math lovers, with a good idea and solid gameplay. If you like maths you will certainly enjoy it and for $0.99 its worth a look.
