No Shared AirPrint In Mac OS 10.6.5? Here Is How To Add It Back

Apple recently released the final version of 10.6.5. Those that downloaded the update and had iOS 4.2 installed noticed AirPrint was not yet working for shared printers, as we speculated yesterday. Yet, you can still hack your OS to reinstate the feature, as discovered by Steven Troughton Smith. Here is how.
Apple removed three files from the OS that disabled this feature. Users that want to use AirPrinting through the Mac will need to download the delta release of 10.6.5.
All that is needed out of the delta release are three files that can then be added to the final release version of 10.6.5. Some folks have extracted those three files and they can be downloaded here. Installation instructions are also included in the download.
Once you have those three files you will need to open up the “usr” directory.
The first step is to launch the Terminal app. Once launched simply type “open /usr (without the quotes).” Then simply drag and drop the files into the correct locations:

A reboot may be needed, but we were able to add this functionality by simply copying over those three files. As always, proceed with caution and do the proper backups in case something goes wrong.
